RAD Teacher Training Program Mentor

Miss Judi has been teaching ballet, contemporary ballet and lyrical ballet for over 26 years.  She received her RAD teacher’s diploma in Ballet in 1989, and also holds Certificates in Dance Anatomy and Dance History.  Miss Judi is involved in the RAD Mentoring program, providing her expertise for those training to be RAD teachers.

Miss Judi began studying ballet at the age of 6, completing her RAD graded and vocational exams and performing in many festivals and competitions, including the duration of Expo 86.  Training with RAD examiner Ellen Andrews, Miss Judi attended master classes with many professional dancers including Karen Kain, Veronica Tennant and Frank Augustin.  At the age of 12, she attended an intensive summer ballet program at the National Ballet School, and later the Banff School of Fine Arts summer program.

Miss Judi has trained many students for both Graded and Vocational levels in RAD Ballet, many of whom became professional dancers or teachers.  As well as teaching, Miss Judi choreographs for year-end shows, ballet productions, and competitions.

For 6 years, Miss Judi owned her own ballet school in Chilliwack, before merging with Capella Dance Academy in 2000.  She has taught for numerous dance schools throughout the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley.

Miss Judi continues to keep up-to-date with the latest information by attending teachers’ courses.  In 2001, she received further training overseas in England, studying the  Imperial Ballet Society syllabus.
